Cuz I've had the mouse 24 hours, and that's already happened. Why would you build a wireless gaming mouse with a battery that doesn't even last four hours? I mean, the guys at Logitech must really enjoy dying in the middle of a boss encounter. You certainly won't believe me until you actually buy your own. Which means you're really not going to use more than two or three profiles unless you like going crazy. Now, as far as wireless goes, Logitech proved with the G7 that they could make a solid, dependable, gaming-grade wireless solution. But the battery life is so remarkably awful, that you'll resent Logitech for even trying. But then, you have to remember to switch profiles every time you switch programs. Thankfully, there's a workaround, where you can switch profiles by dedicating one button on the mouse to nothing but profile switching.

Logitech engineers, you should go steal their software and build SetPoint on top of it. Microsoft's software, on the other hand, switched based on applications flawlessly, and I never appreciated how smoothly it worked. So you may as well just set up one general-purpose profile and forget about using the rest. Which is all great, except that the automatic profile switching NEVER EVER WORKS. And, you can make multiple profiles, that retain everything from button assignments to DPI settings.Software is almost great: it lets you set up these awesome profiles and then assign each profile to specific applications, and it has a feature to automatically switch profiles based on what application is open.

And, every single button can be programmed! You can map keystrokes, macros, Windows shortcuts, or mouse-related tasks, to any of the buttons. They just work.I'm an MMO gamer, and I would take this button layout over a Naga or G600 any day. Each button has its own unique shape and feel, and you can tell them apart without thinking about it. Instead of 20+ buttons all in one giant panel, there are several logical groups of buttons. It's like their design chiefs are always trying to reinvent the wheel for no good reason, so that every mouse they make is always "so close" but never really quite perfect.Button layout is perfect, and the buttons themselves feel great. That is *almost* this mouse, except it's like somebody there couldn't just leave well enough alone, and they had to go change the shape, change the texture, change the software. To sum up: the G700 would be awesome if it had:a better grip surfacea more comfortable shapelonger battery lifesoftware that worked properlyI honestly don't get why Logitech can't just take the best elements from all of their previous successes and put them all together in one perfect gaming mouse. The G700 excels at button layout and configuration, but it has significant drawbacks everywhere else.

That has changed.Other Thoughts:Price too high? Maybe, put this side by side with a $20 mouse that have each seen a year of use and the value is pretty clear. For the first year of use it was buggy and challenging to use. (When I started using it, this was not the case)Even the construction of the USB connection cable is strong and will not wear out and break when using it as a cabled mouse.Cons:My biggest complaint is the time it took for Logitech to get the configuration software cleaned up. Profiles make it easy to move configure multiple PC’s with the same setup and to configure application specific button setups. When the battery wears out for too much use, you can replace it instead of pitching the mouse. The Logitech software used to configure all their devices has improved much over the years and now complements the mouse quality. Also, unlike many other designs, you can replace the battery with any AA Lithium. When the battery is charged just unplug it. The USB cable plugs into the nose of the mouse turning it into a cabled mouse and doesn’t interfere with the usage. After several years of use the durability of the scroll wheel and buttons remains consistent.I have seen others slam the battery life, but I say to them so what. As a guy with large hands I find most mice are just too small, the G700 fits my hand very well and the button placement for primary buttons, scroll wheel and thumb buttons are perfect.

In my many years as a gamer and working professional I have used and disposed of a lot of PC pointing devices and I G700 is hands down the best mouse I have ever used.Pros:Mouse is the correct size.
